Amanda Ruth Olson, 102, formerly of Lubbock, passed away on May 16, 2017 in Houston, Texas.

She was born on September 19, 1914 in Niagara Falls, New York. She was the daughter of Alma Larson Olson and Lars Peter Olson. She was preceded in death by her sisters Helen Olson and Esther Storin.

She taught home economics in the New York State educational system for over 45 years. After retirement, she moved to Lubbock, Texas. She was a long-time member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

She is survived by three nieces: Carolyn Storin, of Houston, Texas, Barbara Doty (husband Robert) of Houston, Texas, and Brenda Nosbaum (husband LeRoy) of Spokane, Washington. She is also survived by several great, and great-great, nieces and nephews: Kirsten Doty Polyansky (husband David and children Cooper and Eloise) and Robert Doty (wife Rebecca and children Jackson and Caroline), both of Houston, Texas; Morgen Doty of Somerset, New Jersey; Jeffrey Nosbaum (wife Jacqueline) of Seattle, Washington; and Matthew Nosbaum (wife Erin and children Lily and Brady) of Spokane, Washington.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in July at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Houston, Texas.

Committal of ashes and interment will be at Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, in Lewiston, New York.
