Mrs. Nettles was born on January 4, 1937 in Carmona, Texas, to parents August Brandon “Slue” Sailer and Velma Ann Rasberry Sailer McMullen, and passed away December 29, 2017 in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Corrigan High School in 1955, where she was a Basketball Letterman and Cheerleader.  After graduation, she married her husband Floyd Lee Nettles, and together they moved to Deer Park, Texas. For over 30 years, she ran a day care at her home and kept countless numbers of children over the years.  There was never a child she didn’t want to hug and talk to about their day.  She was also an avid sports fan, she served as President of the Deer Park High School Football Booster Club in 1981 and 1982, as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts, and attended all her children and grandchildren’s sporting events.  A graduate of Sears Sewing School, she loved to sew, garden, and spend time at her family ranch in Carmona.  She is preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Sterling Vernon McMullen, and brothers August Dale “Sonny” Sailer, and Burton Brandon “Pee Wee” Sailer.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Floyd Lee Nettles of Deer Park, Texas; sons and daughters-in-law Floyd Dale and Cindy Nettles of Baytown, Texas, David Earl and Veness Nettles, and John Douglas “Doug” and Carla Nettles of Deer Park, Texas; grandsons David Alan Nettles, Daniel Nettles, Drake Nettles, John Davis Nettles, and Jordan Nettles; granddaughters Dusti Alane Graham, Sue Nettles, Alicia Hogan, and Erica Denise Nettles; great-granddaughter Sadie Teal Nettles; grandsons-in-law Pete Graham and Brady Hogan; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives,  and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 1, 2018, beginning at 4:00 pm at First Baptist Church  438 8th St. Deer Park, TX 77536  Chapel Services will be Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 10:00 at  Cochran Funeral Home Chapel 406 N Yaupon Ave  Livingston, Texas 77351   Interment will follow at Carmona Community Cemetery in Carmona, Texas.
