Robert L. (Bob) Ross, a long time Houston and Southampton resident, passed away May 8, 2017 in Houston Hospice after a brief illness, surrounded by his wife and family.
Bob was born in Lubbock, Texas on October 17, 1946 and was immediately moved home to the cotton farm in Littlefield, Texas where he lived until enrolling in Rice University (Will Rice College) in 1965.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Delbert L. and Johnnie A. Ross. Bob was an only child of two only children. He is survived by his wife Jacqulyn Moody Ross, brothers-in-law Nick Miller (Debbie), Keith Moody (Paula), and sister-in law Luellen Moody Faulkner. Uncle Bob to his nieces and nephews Ruth Anna Greenwood (Paul), Lesley Jones (Chris), Perry Miller, Matthew Miller (Lisa), Elizabeth Faulkner, and Christopher Faulkner (Chandra), he will 
especially be missed by his grand nieces, Layla, Carrigan and Kinslee; and all the Tyler kids, Peyton, Presley, Chloe, Caleigh and Harry. 
Bob graduated from Rice University in 1970. He was an adjunct professor in the early years of Jones Graduate School of Business and he played for the Rice Owls baseball team his freshman year. After graduation he enrolled in Vanderbilt University in the Ph.D. program. He subsequently received his Masters with a Special Certificate in Latin American Studies in 1973. Bob moved back to Houston in 1973 and was hired at Capital National Bank, where he was promoted from VP & Investment Officer, to Sr. VP, then to Executive VP, while managing the bank’s “Money Center”. After several banking mergers, he chose to move into the private business sector and started Ross Capital Group and Ross Capital Trust simultaneously in 1984. 
After the sale of those companies in 1989, he joined Kemper Securities and managed their Public Funds Investments in the Houston office until 1992 when he and his long-time friend and 
business partner, Joan Alexander, launched Funds Management Group, Inc. and were instrumental in entrusting Public Finance clients and individual clients for the last 25 years. 
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at eleven o’clock in the morning on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Bradshaw- Carter Memorial & Funeral Services, 1734 W. Alabama Street in Houston, 77098.   A reception will follow at his beloved home.
