Winston Wiley Doran II

August 26, 1939 ~ July 24, 2017 (age 77) 77 Years Old

Winston Wiley Doran II passed away at his home on July 24, 2017 at the age of 77.
Born in Lubbock, Texas, Wiley was raised in the city of Hobbs in his beloved, enchanting New Mexico.  His undergraduate study was at Texas Tech University, and he acquired his law degree from Southern Methodist University.

Wiley is predeceased by his parents, Buster and Verna, and his younger brother, Donald Douglas Doran.  Wiley is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Jeanne, and loving daughters Shelley Bevil (John), Marcey French (Jason), and Julie Turner (Flint),  each having three children of their own, providing wonderful grandchildren:  Joshua, Christian and Aaron; Cameron, Dylan and Owen; Mason, Forrest and Shelby, respectively.

Wiley was adored by all who met him.  He never met a stranger, and he had such a humble, uplifting spirit that appealed to all who crossed his path.  His wit and humor came from having the knack of looking at things from a different perspective. As a good listener and advisor, he was a brilliant and compassionate attorney, having been a partner with the Mitchell & Doran law firm for many years, then following in solo practice, serving the law for fifty years.  He was a member of The State Bar Association of Texas, the Houston Bar Association,  and the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.

As one of many interests, Wiley's passions included serious golf, being a longtime player of handball with friends of the Downtown YMCA, skiing the slopes of New Mexico and throughout the West, and being an avid sports fan.  Acquiring the love of the automobile from his father, Wiley was an accomplished race car driver, and acquiring the grace and style from his mother, Wiley was an aficionado of the arts...of ballet, theater, music, cooking, and collecting artwork acquired through his many travels and adventures.

In keeping with his unique character, extraordinary spirit and zest for life, the family invites friends and associates to share in a Celebration of Life at the Bradshaw-Carter Funeral Home on Saturday, August 5th from 4-6 p.m. as we honor and remember Wiley Doran.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made in his name to either The Alford Education Center at the Baylor College of Medicine, or the Houston Methodist Neurological Institute.
