Tribute

Andrew George Shebay III known as “Drew” passed away February 11th 2019. He was born March 2nd 1945 to Andrew George Shebay II and Arielle Kittredge Shebay.  Drew was a proud alumnus of both St Thomas High School and Georgetown University. He was grateful to have received a Catholic education from kindergarten through college.

Following his father’s example, Drew was a Boy Scout master, a certified public accountant and a board certified tax attorney in the state of Texas for almost 5 decades. A person who deeply loved the outdoors, Drew treasured his Boy Scout experiences of being an Eagle Scout, a Philmont Ranger and an Order of the Arrow member.

As a young man in the late 1960’s, Drew was recruited to combine his passion for the natural environment with his professional skills to help preserve and protect the Texas outdoors. It was in these early days of his career that he earned his legal reputation as an indefatigable attorney in David vs Goliath situations. He served as a founding board member, general counsel, board member and committee member for various organizations including Armand Bayou Nature Center, Bayou Preservation Association, Citizens’ Environmental Coalition and Southeast Land Conservancy (now named Bayou Land Conservancy).

Drew is survived by his four children, Karra Shebay Damiana, Elle Shebay, Laura Shebay Fuller and Andrew George Shebay IV, as well as his three grand children, Arielle Damiana, Tom Damiana and Maximus Fuller.

Other members of his extended family include his sons in law, Tom Damiana and Ben Fuller, his brother and sister in law, Michael and Georgia Shebay, his sister, Arielle Shebay Lee M.D. and brother in law Charles Lee M.D. In addition to his nephews and nieces, Trae, Linda and Henry Stavinoha; David, Elizabeth, Sophia, Jonathan and Eli Shebay; Tasia, Tucker and Ava Singleton; Andrew Michael Shebay and Kelsey Roop; Alex, Jenna and Olivia Lee and Andrew Madison Lee M.D.

Rosary and Mass will be held on Thursday, February 14 at Our Lady of the Cedars Maronite Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, Drew would like to encourage all who knew him to spend some time with loved ones at Armand Bayou Nature Center.  https://www.abnc.org/
