Carol Edward Belton went home to Heaven on April 7, 2017, where he will join his beloved Gerry to sing Easter praises. A native of Massachusetts, he was born December 21, 1927 to Thomas and Virginia Belton in Montague City, MA. As the youngest of 7 children, he was frequently referred to as his parents' Christmas Carol. He served in the Army for 18 months at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX, and returned to MIT to complete his degree, where he was active in Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He came back to Texas as fast as he could. His return coincided with the birth of the Petrochemical industry, and he began his career as a Chemical Engineer in Texas City, Texas in 1950. A few years later, he relocated to Big Spring, TX, where he was considered one of the city's most eligible bachelors. He met his wife Gerry on a blind date back in Texas City, and they were married a short 3 months later, just shy of his 30th birthday. Upon retirement, Carol & Gerry moved to New Braunfels, Texas, where Gerry grew up and where her ancestors were of the founding families. Carol had a lovely sense of humor and an easy-going personality. With his wife Gerry, he contributed greatly to the birth of Conservative Republican politics in Harris County. He served on the Peace Corps advisory board under Ronald Reagan. Carol had a lovely tenor voice and sang in many church choirs and quartets. He was active in his churches, was a founding member of St. John Vianney in Houston, and was on the Finance Committee at Sts. Peter & Paul in New Braunfels. He remained active in his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta. Carol was preceded to Heaven by his dear wife Gerry and grandson George. Carol is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Mary & Jim Blackburn and Anne & Barry McCall; sons and daughters-in-law Bill & Liz Belton and Tim & Elisabeth Belton; and grandchildren Holli Blackburn Solenberger & Leah Blackburn Carrillo, Jared & Dani Blackburn, Morgan & Chris Snapp, Caleb, Joshua, Sophie, Carl, Paul Belton; and one great-granddaugher, Jordan Snapp. He is also survived by more than 20 nieces and nephews. The Houston Rosary and mass will be celebrated on April 12 at half past nine o'clock in the morning, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3617 Miliam Street, in Houston. The New Braunfels mass and internment will be after Easter and will be handled by Doeppenschmidts in New Braunfels.In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Alzheimers Association, www.alz.org.
