Caroline Marie Perry

June 26, 1971 ~ May 17, 2022 (age 50) 50 Years Old

Tribute

Carole Marie Pinell was born June 26, 1971, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the youngest child of Dr. Octavio Cesar Pinell and Ruthvelia Rios Pinell. Caroline, as she was known, grew up in Houston, Texas, where her father practiced psychiatry and served on the faculty of Baylor College of Medicine. Caroline attended St. Jerome Catholic School and St. Pius X High School, and graduated top of her class at Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart in 1989.

Caroline received her undergraduate education at Rice University, Houston Baptist University, and St. Edward's University in Austin. She returned home in 1994 to study at the University of Texas Health Science Center and South Texas College of Law, earning an MD, JD, and PhD. Beginning in 2000, Caroline embarked on a career as a healthcare professional, serving in senior executive positions at a physicians’ group practice, an integrated delivery network, a regional hospital system, and a health insurance provider in the Pacific Northwest, before transitioning to work as an independent healthcare consultant in 2009.

Caroline met her first husband, Hamant Kalidas, in law school, and they were married in 2002. She was remarried in 2011 to Craig Perry, a high-school sweetheart from San Antonio with whom she had lost touch two decades earlier. Craig was serving in the U.S. Air Force when they reconnected, and Caroline joined him for assignments in the Washington, DC area and his hometown until he retired from active duty in 2015. He took a job in the United Kingdom the following year, and they ultimately made their home in Stamford, England.

Caroline possessed a larger-than life personality, attracting loyal and devoted friends with her irrepressible sunniness, boundless generosity, and almost legendary ability to overcome adversity. Incredibly, she survived several forms of cancer, multiple heart attacks, a violent carjacking, and even kidnapping by a serial killer! Despite these setbacks, Caroline fearlessly traveled the world, visiting dozens of countries throughout Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America, including countless trips to Nicaragua, land of her ancestors. In her spare time, she dedicated herself to animal rescue, saving literally hundreds of pets from abuse and neglect, and became a certified professional animal trainer specializing in medical alert service dogs.

Caroline is survived by her husbands, Craig and Hamant, and by Princeton, GiGi, and at least a dozen other beloved dogs, cats, birds, and tortoises.
