Charles E. Slade, Jr.

Charles E. Slade, Jr., age 95, passed away September 19, 2018 in Houston, Texas.  He was born March 13, 1923 in Saginaw, Michigan.

Chuck was preceded in death by his life partner of 65 years, Carlos Dannemann. He is survived by his sister Georgine Gifford and many nieces and nephews.

He was raised in Saginaw and served in the US Army during WWII, stationed in Germany. After the war, Chuck settled in New York City where he went to work for Shell Oil Company and was transferred to Houston in 1970.

Chuck’s passion was travel and travel he did. He and Carl enjoyed more than 140 cruises and countless other trips all over the world. He is quoted as saying many times that the secret to their long, happy relationship was “yes Carl”. Chuck and Carl also enjoyed fine dining and theater of all kinds.

Chuck will be greatly missed by his many friends and family whose lives he touched with graciousness and humor.

Services will be held Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas at ten o’clock in the morning.
