David Kuan-Hua Chen, MD

1975 ~ 2020 (age 44) 44 Years Old

Tribute

David K. Chen passed away on March 20, 2020 in the presence of his wife Grace and sister Elaine at home in Houston after battling his recurring brain tumor since October of 2019. David had been a loving, devoting husband, father, and brother to his family who are deeply saddened by his passing away. However, his condition never once took his courage, kindness, and stoic manner away from him. As he once said, “I will work until the last day I die,” Dave had lived a full life. He will always be remembered by his family and friends as the calm voice in the room, who had enjoyed fantasy football with his beloved colleagues and friends.

The family has asked Bradshaw-Carter to share this note from Eli M. Mizarahi, MD - Chair of the Department of Neurology at the Baylor College of Medicine:

I am saddened to share with you the news that our colleague and friend David Kuan-Hua Chen, MD, FAES, passed away Friday, March 20, 2020 at 44 years of age.

He was a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, in Neurology and in the subspecialties of Clinical Neurophysiology and of Epilepsy.

David was a dedicated and skilled medical educator, involved in teaching medical students, neurology residents, and epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology fellows within the Baylor programs.   He received the Department of Neurology, BCM Faculty Teaching Award several times and was given a BCM Fulbright & Jaworski LLP Faculty Excellence Award in Teaching and Evaluation.  David was also an academic scholar with several peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, presentations at national professional meetings, principal investigator of clinical trials, and active participate in journal and grant review panels.
