Dear Friends & Colleagues,
We are saddened to share the news of the passing of our friend and colleague,
Dr. Bryant Griffith. He passed away on Sunday, September 22 after a short battle with cancer. Bryant joined the faculty in the College of Education and Human Development in December 2002 as a Professor of Curriculum Studies. From early on, his commitment to scholarship and faculty governance was only rivaled by his commitment to his students, especially those in the graduate program. He was always willing and eager to serve on doctoral dissertation committees.
Bryant served as Deputy Speaker of the Faculty Senate in 2014-2015 and as Speaker of the Senate in 2015-2016. He also served on important committees such as Graduate Council and the International Education Committee, all while serving as the Director of the Ph.D. program in Curriculum and Instruction. In 2013, he was awarded the Regents Professor Award from the Texas A&M University System in recognition of his exemplary scholarship, teaching, and research.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Houston Hospice (www.houstonhospice.org).
