On January 12, 2021, Jose Salvador Ortiz Lara of Parras, Coahuila, age 78, passed into eternal life surrounded by his loving family after a long and brave battle with cancer. He was a graduate of La Esc. Sec. Preparatoria Venustiano Carranza and soon after, began his pre-medical career there as well. His medical education would then bring him to La Escuela Superior de Medicina, IPN in Mexico, D.F. where he graduated from. While there, he met and married the love of his life, Elida Ortiz. Soon after, Dr. Ortiz then went on to complete an internship and residency at the Washington Hospital Center and his Anesthesia Residency at the George Washington University Hospital. His career then brought him to the Texas Heart Institute in Houston, Texas where he grew interested in Cardiovascular Anesthesia.
He would later specialize in this for the duration of his career. He spent 32 years practicing Anesthesia at Spring Branch Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Elida, his eldest daughters Luz Maria Ortiz Kildow, Helena Ortiz Gonzales, Elizabeth Ortiz Rickard, his son Gabriel Ortiz and youngest daughter Elida Ortiz Rooney. He is also survived by his sister María de Jesús and his brother, Mario Ramón Ortiz in Mexico.
