Isabel Martinez Jimenez

Isabel Martinez Jimenez, 84, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning,
November 19, 2022, surrounded by her loving family after a brief yet fierce battle
with cancer. She was thankful in her final days to spend time with her loved ones.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a dog mom to
her Shih Tzu rescue pup, Pacquito.

She was born on May 13, 1938, on a ranch in the small south Texas town of
Encinal to Hilario and Maria Martinez. The third born of nine children, she always
reminisced about cherished childhood memories spent on the ranch. She told
endless stories of feeding animals, milking cows, growing watermelons, the one
room schoolhouse in nearby Cactus, and riding the bus to town to buy a
newspaper for her papa and spend her allowance on candy. It was also while
living on the ranch that she developed a deep adoration for horses.
In 1951 the family moved and settled near downtown Houston. As a teenager
she worked at the Ritz Theatre, which is where she met Antonio Jimenez. The
two married in 1954 and raised five children. Isabel was a dedicated homemaker.
She always had fresh baked desserts for after school and was a constant PTA
volunteer. Her children were the center of her world. Later her grandchildren and
great grandchildren were the light of her life.

While she loved God and her family above all, Isabel had many hobbies and
interests. She loved horse racing, playing bingo, shopping for purses and jewelry,
cooking and baking, trips to Las Vegas for a little gambling, watching telenovelas
and dancing and singing to Tejano music.

She is preceded in death by the father of her children, Antonio Jimenez, her
father and mother, Hilario and Maria Martinez; her sisters, Carmen Carizales,
Antonia Flores and Mary Navarro. She is survived by her five children: Corinne
Mardirosian and husband Anthony, Antonio Jimenez Jr. and wife Mary, Larry
Jimenez and wife Patricia, Charles Jimenez, Hector Jimenez and wife Rhonda;
as well as her grandchildren: Terry Weaver and wife Kris, Mary Simon, Jennifer
Bonfiglio and husband Nicholas, Jessica Jimenez, Julian Mardirosian, Antonio
Jimenez III and wife Eileen, John Mardirosian and wife Mackenzie, Jacquelyn
Jimenez, Jade Mardirosian Ali and husband Samad, andJames Jimenez; and her
great grandchildren: Brett Weaver and wife Kara, Emma Jacinto, Vella
Mardirosian, Cruz Bonfiglio, and Samantha Mardirosian; and great great
grandchildren: Emma and Grayson Weaver. She is also survived by her siblings
Jesse Martinez and wife Ofelia, Frank Martinez, Joe Martinez and wife Olivia,
Julia Ramirez and husband Oscar and Margarita Goscinski and husband Robert,
as well as many nieces and nephews and dear family friends Juan Nique and
Carmen Ramirez.

A celebration of life and memorial service will be held Friday, November 25 at
5 pm at Bradshaw-Carter Memorial and Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, the
family requests those who wish to plant a tree in Isabel’s memory through A
