Jackson Lee Nash

Tribute

Jackson Lee Nash passed away on September 3, 2019 at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife of over fifty years, Gail, as well as three children (Lee, Kelly, and Laura), two grandchildren (Logan and Ellie), his brother, Shannon, and two sisters (Carole, Jennifer).

Jackson was born in Texas and spent much of his life in the state. He met his wife Gail as an undergraduate at the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of the basketball team and Sigma Chi. He was a die-hard Longhorn fan for the rest of his life. Jackson and Gail travelled to many countries and lived in Connecticut, California, and even Hong Kong before returning to Houston with their family.

One of Jackson’s biggest passions was the outdoors. He loved nothing more than fishing in Trinity Bay, and spending time at the family bayhouse in Smith Point. At home, you could find him defending the backyard birdfeeder from enemy squirrels.

He was a superb card player, lover of Napa Cabernets, Jeopardy aficionado, and voracious reader. Though he had a sharp sense of humor, his family regularly got to see his silly and sappy sides, especially in his recent role as a doting grandfather.

A service will be held Saturday, September 7 at 1:30 in the sanctuary at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church (3471 Westheimer Rd) with reception to follow. Memorial gifts may be made to the Houston Boy Choir, where he volunteered and both his son and grandson sang.
