James Solomon Chorley Jr.

August 19, 1943 ~ September 23, 2021 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Tribute

Will be remembered as a great husband, dad, colleague, mentor, and friend to many. He passed away at home with his family on September 23rd, 2021 at the age of 78.  His enthusiasm for chemical engineering and safety consultant at DuPont (36 years) and Bechtel (12 years) was exceeded by the love he had for his colleagues he was blessed to work with.  Coaching/mentoring colleagues and his daughters’ softball teams was a passion that brought him satisfaction.

He was born to Marion and James Chorley, Sr. in August of 1943 in Philadelphia and grew up in Germantown neighborhood. He graduated from Central High School and earned his Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University, where he met the love of his life, his wife Patricia. Earlier this year, they celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.

They started their family in Philadelphia before moving to Houston where his children grew up. He is survived by his children Dr. Carolyn Geis (Dr. Todd Geis), Dr. Joe Chorley (Dr. Valerie Arredondo), and Paula Chorley, and his beloved grandchildren Savannah, Natalie, Reilly Hope, and Graham and his constant companion wherever he went, Fuji, their maltipoo.

Memorial Service will be held on October 1st at 1PM at First Presbyterian Church Houston (5300 Main St. Houston TX 77004).  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Benfer Elementary School Library book care of Jamie Camp, 18027-B Kuykendahl Road, Klein, Texas 77379.
