Joan "JoAnn" Benito Blackburn McGregor

Joan (JoAnn) Benito Blackburn McGregor passed away peacefully in Houston, Texas on March 28, 2021, at the age of 90. JoAnn was born along with her twin brother Gene in Dallas, Texas on February 5, 1931. Soon thereafter she moved to Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, where she grew up and graduated from Pauls Valley High School in 1949.

In 1950, she married Charles Lee Blackburn. For the next 33 years, she supported his career, moving around the country and raising their two sons. She was an avid bridge player and a diehard University of Oklahoma football fan.

In 1989, she met and married James (Jimmy) McGregor of Shreveport, Louisiana. She and Jimmy lived happily together in Shreveport for 23 years until his passing in 2012. In 2016, she moved to Houston to be closer to her family.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her father Peter Andrew Benito, her mother Grace Jewell Butler Benito, her brothers Philip Benito and Calvin Gene Benito and her husband James H. McGregor. She is survived by her son Kern Andrew Blackburn and his wife Mary Sue, her son Alan Jeffrey Blackburn and his wife Pamela, her granddaughter Melinda Amber Bradford and her husband David, her grandson Philip Andrew Blackburn, her granddaughter Elizabeth Ann Blackburn, her granddaughter Alicia Blackburn Summers and her husband Matthew, her granddaughter Courtney Marie Blackburn and five great grandchildren.
