John Leonard, 74, passed away peacefully to be with our Lord on Saturday, July 6th 2019. John was born on December 27th 1944, in Jacksonville, Florida to Nick Leonard and Stella Cramer Leonard.
John proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. John dedicated his career to international business, working over 30 years for the Austrian steel company Bohler, which served the oil field services, laminate, and petrochemical industries. John's career took him all over North America, Europe and Asia. John was most passionate about golf and he could be found playing most Tuesdays with his regular foursome at different Houston golf courses. He most enjoyed sharing his love of the game with his four grandsons.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Thalia Leonard; his son Nick Leonard and wife Tonya Leonard; his daughter Elise Dale and husband Demetri Dale. His grandsons Dashel Leonard and Liam Leonard, and John Dale and Vasili Dale. His sisters-in-law Eleni Demeris and Pipitsa Stamos. His nephews Fote Demeris and wife Cindy, Stathy Demeris and wife Chrissy, Yanni Demeris and wife Brandy, and George Demeris and wife Joannie, all of Houston, Texas. His nieces Thalia Gazis and husband George, and Georgia Souders and husband Scott, also of Houston, Texas. John is preceded in death by his parents, Nick Leonard and Stella Cramer Leonard, his brother Phillip Leonard and brothers-in-law Harry Stamos and Nick Demeris, and his mother-in-law Georgia Marcopoulos.
Pallbearers will be Fote Demeris, Stathy Demeris, George Demeris, Yanni Demeris, George Gazis, Scott Souders, Yonny Demeris, and Nick Stellakis.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from half-past nine o'clockuntil half-past ten o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 10th of July at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3511 Yoakum Boulevard in Houston, Texas.The funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
The internment service will be held at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, that same day with an escorted cortege leaving the Cathedral immediately after the funeral.
