Tribute

John Jay Toomey, Jr., born October 25, 1951 in Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Longtime resident of San Antonio, Texas, John was the President and Owner of Alamo Toyota and Co-Owner of Tejas Toyota in Humble, Texas and various family properties and business interests, a loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, storyteller, joke teller, and avid golfer.

John fondly told stories of his years growing up in Houston as the oldest of five brothers. He particularly loved the cookouts, swimming at the lake, and go-kart rides at his grandparents’ houses and the special lunches he would have with Aunt Rosalie DeGeorge at YeOlde College Inn and the pony rides afterwards. He often told tales of his days playing little league baseball and basketball at St. Anne’s. He graduated from Lamar High School and attended the University of Houston.

John spent many wonderful times with Becky, his family, and friends enjoying dinners, attending many shows and concerts. He created so many memorable moments traveling to Disneyland with his grandchildren and found so much joy in making them laugh at his shenanigans.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Michelene, his brother, Stephen, and his nephew, Stuart.

John is survived by his father John, Sr.; wife Becky; daughter Alexa; grandchildren Paige, Tyler, Chase, and Hayes; brothers Tanny, his wife Susan, their son Charles, his wife Lindsi and their son Trip; Stephen’s daughter, Emily; Bernard and his children Cameron and wife Alex, Caitlin and husband Rob, and Cody; Richard and wife Claudia; and sister-inlaw Julie.
