Joseph Michael Toennis passed away October 18, 2019 surrounded by comfort and love after a long 6-year battle with traumatic brain injury. Joe graduated from Kingwood High School in 2013. He was a proud Plank Owner of the Kingwood High School Navy JROTC, participating in its rifle & drill teams. He was active in both St. Martha’s Boy Scouts of America Pack 1727 and Troop 727. By 2012, Joe achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with an Eagle Palm. He loved to travel by train, plane, or ship. His adventures with the Boy Scouts took him to numerous summer camps, the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, National Jamboree in Washington, DC, World Jamboree in Sweden, and the Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland. When he was not busy with scouts, he loved to go with family and friends to Disney World or on a Disney Cruise. Joe leaves behind his mom, Karen Sielaff Toennis and many family & friends but is now reunited with his dad, Michael W Toennis and grandparents.
A memorial service for Joe will be held at Houston Methodist Hospital, a place he loved, at the Wiess Memorial Chapel on Monday, November 11 at 5:00pm.
