Katherine A. Gorry

Kate died peacefully on June 12th. Born in Houston, Texas, Kate attended St. John’s High School and obtained her BA and MBA from Rice University and her JD from South Texas College of Law. She worked in a variety of arenas as a business consultant and attorney.

Kate was full of life, energy, and intellectual vitality. Her coaches recall her as one of the most accomplished distance runners in Rice history. Kate earned numerous conference, state, and national championship athletic titles, including the 2006 Fred J. and Florence Stancliff Award for both academic and running achievement. Her professors and colleagues praised her ideas and originality, and her unflagging work ethic. She will be remembered for her extraordinary kindness and generous heart.

Kate was preceded in death by her father, Tony Gorry, and her family is certain that the two of them are together now taking a long-distance run. She is survived by her mother, Anne Adams, her sister, Meghan Nourbaha, her brother-in-law, Daryush Nourbaha, her two adorable nieces, Marinella and Roxanna, her relatives David, Georgann, and Allison Adams, Buz Adams, and April Gorry. Her devoted dog, Jazzy, now lives with canine relative, Sophie, in her mother’s home.
