Tribute

Louise G. Duncan 90, died peacefully at her home in Houston Saturday morning, January 11, 2020 with family at her bedside. Louise described her childhood with her parents Thomas and Frances Gelley, her sisters and brother as one that was filled with love, laughter and music. From these beginnings, Louise developed her life-long passion for music and a devotion to her faith and family. Supporting her husband Norman’s growing career with Shell Oil, they raised their seven children with frequent transfers to numerous locations throughout the USA and Europe. Louise was known as a gracious hostess, full of charm, good taste and a generosity of spirit. After her children had grown, Louise maintained her strong interest in music by achieving degrees from the University of Houston, Holy Name College and an advanced certificate in the Kodaly method in Budapest, Hungary. Throughout her life, Louise found joy by contributing her piano and organ talents to various parishes and community events. Louise always maintained her life balance with a combination of personal strength and a wry sense of humor. Louise is preceded in death by her former husband Norman Duncan, sons, Gregory, Mark and Michael, and her sister Denise Foster. She is survived by her loving children Laura Colburn (John), Mary Duncan-Harrison (Henry), Catherine Neneman (Mark), and Peter Duncan. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Lucas, Elisabeth, Adrienne, Ryan, Meghan, Mark, Caroline, Sarah, Benjamin, William, and Jessica, as well as her three great-grand-children Jackson, Duncan, and Virginia. Louise is also survived by her sister Lee (Cecelia) Doylend in British Columbia, her brother Gerry Gelley in Florida and fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
