Margaret Ann (Halsey) Stringer Crane, 78, passed away September 25, 2021 at Harbor Hospice of Texas in Houston. She was born to the late Margaret Taylor Anderson and Charles Ivan George Halsey on February 27, 1943 in Chilliwack, British Columbia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Isabel Halsey (second wife of her father), sister Joan Cope, and husbands Larry Stringer and Dan Crane.
The daughter of Salvation Army officers and having grown up in the Salvation Army in Canada, Margaret graduated from Asbury College and married her first husband Larry Stringer in Kentucky. Margaret and Larry later moved to Washington State. Their time together was cut short by Larry’s untimely death. Margaret then moved to Windsor, Ontario with their two young children to be closer to her family. At that time, she obtained her nursing degree from St. Clair College. Her nursing career focused on hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. She met her second husband Dan while working in Detroit. Margaret and Dan lived and worked throughout southern Ontario and Detroit for the rest of their careers. After retirement, she and Dan moved to Ohio to be closer to her children. Upon Dan’s death Margaret moved to Indianapolis then Houston to be with her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter Stacey Crane of Houston TX, her son Stephen Crane (married to Kristin Crane) of Brookville OH, and her sister Ruth Halsey of Windsor Ontario, as well as by nieces and nephews and many special friends in Windsor.
Cremation was done at Bradshaw Carter Funeral Home in Houston TX. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Dayton National Cemetery in Dayton OH. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
