Maria Bartush Groff

Maria Bartush Groff, 50, passed away peacefully after an extended battle with cancer on Monday, March 5, 2018.

Born August 6, 1967 in Pottsville, PA, Maria was a graduate of Nativity BVM High School, Pottsville, PA; Newcomb College, Tulane University, New Orleans, LA, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority; and Loyola University College of Law, New Orleans, LA.  Maria moved to Houston, Texas in March, 1997, joining the legal department of Halliburton Energy Services where she worked until joining the legal department of ConocoPhillips/Phillips 66 in February, 2008.

Cherished by all who knew her, Maria was a loving wife, devoted mother, precious daughter, treasured sister and dear friend.  Maria’s constant enthusiasm for life and desire to help others were a joy and inspiration to all who knew her and she will be missed greatly.

Maria is survived by her husband, David Conley Groff; children Henry Benedict and Augustine Celaya Groff; parents Chester and Maria Bartush of Pottsville, PA; sister Rose Bartush and brother in law Stephen Belew of Austin, TX and their daughter Ephie; and many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, March 12, 2018, at 10:00 AM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3617 Milam, Houston, TX 77002.  A reception will follow the Mass at the Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Maria’s name to the Southern Dominican Province, 3617 Milam, Houston, TX 77002.
