Mark Evan Cyprus, 50, beloved son of Shelly and the late Joel Howard Cyprus, died on February 9, 2018, in Sugar Land, Texas due to complications from Parkinson’s disease. 
He is survived by his wife, Leah Cyprus; sons, Robert and Charles Cyprus and Simon Kim; siblings, Audrey (and Richard) Kauffman, Idalyn (and Mark) Audas, Lenore (and Russ) Ferrill, Dean Draper and Valerie Bossert, the wife of his late brother, Bradley Cyprus. He was treasured by his nieces and nephews: Annaliese and Alexander Kauffman, Katherine and Jacqueline Audas, Carlye and Justin Ferrill, Miles and Denver Draper, Isaac and Ephraim Jamieson, London Davies, Emily, Jack, Allison, Elizabeth, Rebecca and Morris Davies, and Anjali and Joshua Davies, as well as numerous members of his close-knit, extended family. 
Mark was born in Houston, Texas on March 14, 1967, the second youngest of six children. He graduated from John Foster Dulles High School in 1985. While in high school he was the president of the speech club and won a state championship as a cross-examination debater. As a former classmate recalled, “I could not have dreamed of a better debate partner or friend.” Mark graduated with a degree in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis in 1989. While in college he served as Student Union secretary and was an active member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. Summers were spent planning the launch of Paracom, the network security company he founded with his brother, Brad.
Paracom’s initial focus was network security. When one of their security clients required a licensed peace officer on staff, Mark jumped into the necessary training. Over the next 28 years, Paracom transitioned into VendorSafe and then Netsurion. Throughout this time, Mark was the technical genius behind the company’s product offerings. As chief technology officer, he led the company’s research and development efforts and continuously tested new technologies. He had an astounding intellect, and his exacting standards were complemented by a quirky, acerbic sense of humor and strong work ethic. He was a master troubleshooter and firewall expert who greatly enjoyed his role as mentor to the company’s technical staff. Besides his family, his greatest passion was knowing everything there was to know about computer hardware and security protocols. With his brother-in-law Russ, he patented an improved system for remotely securing computer networks of companies with limited technical personnel, saving them the expense of commercial hardware and software. He had boundless energy and was a lifelong learner.
In June 1993, Mark married the love of his life, Leah Davies. Their children, Robert, Charles and Simon, were his pride and joy. Fatherhood was the defining role of his life. He passed the respect and lessons he learned from his own father on to his children. He coached his sons’ soccer teams and enjoyed teaching chess to numerous children, whether at the local community center or while on family cruise vacations. He also relished spending time with his nieces and nephews, talking to them as equals, helping to build their self-confidence and encouraging them to pursue their dreams.
Mark looked at life as one big adventure. His exuberant spirit enriched the lives of everyone he touched.
