Mary C. Costa

February 3, 1933 ~ February 14, 2021 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Tribute

Mary Campbell Costa of Houston, Texas passed on at the age of 88 and after a full and happy life, to rest in eternal peace with our Lord on February 14, 2021.  A woman of grace, dignity and impeccable taste and timing, it is truly befitting that Mom would leave us on the day symbolized by love, in the hour of Mercy and within hours after losing such a radiant spirit, Texas would freeze over.  Her warmth shines on in the family and friends who knew and loved her.
With her everlasting devotion to God and love of family and friends, Mary was a quiet matriarch, but always our rock.  She was the mother of five children, blessed with fifteen grandchildren, and the surrogate mother to many more.  Mary was the friend you wanted, the gentle counsel you requested and the constant spiritual guide we all needed.
Mary was born on February 3, 1933 in Dorchester Massachusetts to Sarah and Angus Campbell originally of Nova Scotia.  She graduated from Gate of Heaven High School in 1950.  A lifelong learner and voracious reader, Mary always strove to improve her mind, but her wisdom always exceeded.  Mary and Robert Joseph Costa were married for 58 years and raised their family in the suburbs of Boston Massachusetts, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Houston, Texas.  Among her greatest joys was to have all her children and grandchildren around her in Texas and sharing with them her affection for her Scottish heritage.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Rob and her brother Malcolm Campbell and is survived by her dear brother Alexander Campbell and dearest sister Mary Lou (Campbell) Towle.  She is also survived by her five children; Lauren Granberry, married to Dr. William Granberry of Houston, Robert Costa Jr. of Houston, Adam Costa and his wife Chanta of Austin, Justin Costa and his wife Marta of Dallas, and Christian Costa and his wife Leilani of Houston.  She cherished her many nieces and nephews, whose love and kindness brought her great joy.
