Tribute

Mimi Morris Ford, age 92, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018.  Mimi was born November 29, 1925, in New York City, the daughter of George C. Morris, Sr. and Mary Terrell Morris.  She is preceded in death by her late husband, Donald P. Ford, M.D.

Mimi grew up in Winnetka, Illinois, and Beaumont, Texas.  She attended Beaumont High School and Randolph Macon Women’s College where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.  Mimi enjoyed athletics and excelled at swimming, tennis, bicycling, and snow skiing.  She had a green thumb as her garden flourished year-round and was a member of the River Oaks Blossom Club.  She had an operatic voice and loved singing at her church, Christ Church Cathedral, where she was a lifelong member.  In addition to raising three daughters she was a member of the Lady Washington Chapter of the D. A. R., Colonial Dames of America, Magna Charta Dames and Barons, Kappa Alpha Theta Houston Alumnae, Christ Church Cathedral’s Altar Guild of St. Theresa’s and an active volunteer of other organizations.

 Mimi touched many people’s lives and her greatest joy in life was her family and friends.  She is survived by her three daughters: Joan Ford Pappas and husband Chris, Mary Terrell Ford, Elizabeth Collins Ford; and six grandchildren: Christopher Culver Pappas Jr., wife Mollie Mercer Pappas and daughter Edie Pappas; Matthew Trent Pappas, wife Joy Everett Pappas and son Matthew Trent Pappas Jr.; Phillip Brooke Pappas; Terrell Scott Pappas; Sarah Pappas Sheppard and husband Brandon Ross Sheppard, and Joan Brooke Pappas.

            Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family from five until eight o’clock with a memorial service starting at six o’clock in the evening on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Bradshaw-Carter Memorial & Funeral Services, 1734 West Alabama Street in Houston.  The family gathered for a private interment earlier in the day at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to the Christ Church Cathedral Endowment Fund, 1117 Texas Avenue, Houston, Texas 77002.
