Tribute

Rodger Carson Kelso died July 21, 2021 in Houston, Texas.  He was born May 13, 1949 in Lyons Kansas, the youngest son of Raymond and Jessie (Raulston) Kelso.  Rodger was raised in Chase, Kansas and graduated from Chase High School and Hutchinson Junior College before relocating to Houston, Texas in 1972 to attend Mortuary College.  He spent over 30 years in Funeral Service in the Houston area and after retirement, began a new career in Landscape Design until the time of his death.  Rodger was a great lover of music. He collected record albums and books; was an avid wild mushroom hunter; grower of orchids, and loved to cook and enjoy fine wines.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: James, Darrell, Millard, and Leon.  He is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friend Frank H. Mahy.  

A gathering of friends for a visitation with special music, food, and wine will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from three o’clock until five o’clock in the afternoon at the Bradshaw-Carter Home, 1734 West Alabama Street in Houston.   Graveside services and interment will be at Chase Springdale Cemetery under the direction of Birzer Funeral Home in Lyons, Kansas.
