Versee Denon Carter was born on June 17, 1950 in Jackson, Mississippi. He was the oldest son of his   predeceased parents, Inell Turner Carter and Albert James Carter. Versee passed away on October 24, 2019.


Versee’s childhood was spent in Jackson, MS. with very supportive parents and eight sisters and brothers. He graduated from Brinkley High School and went on to attend Dillard University in New Orleans, LA. where he received his B.A. degree in Business Administration. While in college, Versee became a member of the Beta Phi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. 


It was in college that he met the love of his life, Grace Patricia Nicholas, his college fraternity sweetheart.  In 1973, Versee and Pat were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mobile, AL. Their 46 year union blessed them with two wonderful children, Versee Damien Carter of Amherst, NH and Ashley Nicole Carter of Houston, TX. After graduating college, Versee attended Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. He then pursued a MBA degree from Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island. 


His professional career started with Allstate Insurance Company in Cranston, Rhode Island. His interests in sales and technology led him into computer sales with hi-tech companies. However, Versee’s entrepreneurial spirit, led him to forge his own path. He started his own company, and was the CEO/ President of Global Ex-Import Inc. for 40 plus years, working mainly in the international marketplace in the Middle East, South America and Latin America.
Versee believed in community service, he coached little league teams in soccer, baseball and basketball in the town of Amherst, NH and chaired a fundraising event benefiting Nashua Catholic schools, and he held golf tournaments for scholarships awarded to college bound students. In Houston, Texas, he served as the community liaison for the Conrad O. Johnson Annual Golf Classic benefiting the Regional Youth Orchestra of Houston area students.
Versee had an eternal love for God and a devoted love for his family. He was a kind, honest, positive, and trustworthy person and loved by many. Versee leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife of 46 years, Pat, two children, Damien and Ashley Carter, and a precious granddaughter, Sydney Nicole Jolivette, a mother-in-law, Lillian H. Nicholas, 8 sisters and brothers, 5 brothers-in-law, and  6 sisters- in- law,  Melvo Lois Younger, Daisy B. Carter, Janice Lindsey, Barbara Carter, Jackson, MS.; Lynette Carter, San Antonio , TX.; Lemrey James  (Priscilla) Carter, Biloxi, MS.; Leroy (Linda) Carter, Jackson, MS.; Charles Ray (Bessie) Carter, Terry, MS.; Barbara Nicholas (Charles) Mitchell, Lilburn, GA.; Annette Nicholas (Jerome) Latham, Conyers, GA.; Karen Michelle Nicholas (Cedric) Anthony, Mobile, AL.; Warren H. Nicholas, Decatur, GA.; Robert Anthony Nicholas, Mobile, AL.,  and a host of nephews, nieces, who affectionately referred to him as “My Uncle Versee,” cousins, lifelong friends, fraternity brothers and business partners  around the world.


There will be a reception following the memorial service at the Co-Cathedral, and the Alpha Phi Alpha Omega Service at the Cathedral Centre on Monday, November 11, 2019, at ten o’clock in the morning.  Anyone who would like to say a few words of remembrance can do so at the reception.
