William Stevenson Stone, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, son and friend passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 15th, after a short illness.
Born in Houston, Texas on July 3rd 1969, Billy brought laughter and fun into his family’s world as the youngest of 4 Stone family siblings. Billy’s kind spirit and keen sense of humor reflected his close-knit family.
As the youngest child of Ron and Patsy Stone, Billy enjoyed all the freedom that the youngest of four might enjoy. He ran the neighborhood with friends he remained close to throughout his life and their stories of adventure will forever bring laughter and smiles to Billy’s family and friends.
Game for fun and quick with a joke, Billy was loved by all throughout his life. He liked to mention (often) that he was voted most popular three years running in high school, only to be unseated his senior year by one of his best friends.
Billy graduated from The University of Texas at Austin, where he made many more lifelong friends as an SAE and Silver Spur.
Billy’s good humor and kind nature saw him through a long, award-winning career in film production along side his family at Stonefilms of Texas and KHOU and later in corporate communications with ExxonMobil. Throughout his career, he was blessed to work with colleagues that he considered to be part of his extended family.
When faced with the diagnosis of his terminal illness, Billy said that there was no need to ask for a miracle as he’d already received his miracle: 54 years of a loving family, an amazing friend group, a strong and happy marriage with three of the best children and one crazy dog, and the opportunity to laugh every day.
Billy is loved and survived by his wife Vicki, children William Stevenson, John Coleman (Jack) and Kathryn Elaine(Lainie), siblings Julie Payne, Robin Brown (Paul), Ron Stone, Jr. (Susan Wormser), Sister-in-law Steffy Clingan (Scott), nieces and nephews Mary Katharine Burke (Hal), William Payne (Rebecca), Katharine O’Brien (James), Kent Baldo, Madeline Stone, Caroline Stone, Evan Hubbard (James), and Ryan Clingan (Ashley) and countless dear friends and extended family.
To carry on Billy’s memory, he asks that you find something to laugh about each and every day, and to be sure to hang on to friends, old and new. They are some of life’s greatest treasures – even when they take your seat as most popular your senior year of high school.
The family expresses their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of Houston Methodist Hospital, Medical Clinic of Houston and Houston Hospice.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer Road, at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 20th. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Billy’s memory to the charity of your choice.
