Yvonne Marie Jensen, a beloved sister, aunt, great aunt, and friend died on April 26, 2018 surrounded by family and friends.
Yvonne, a descendant of early Fort Bend County, Texas settlers, took great pride in being a 4th generation Houstonian.
She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The University of Texas at Austin. A life-long Longhorn fan, some of Yvonne’s favorite memories were of the years she spent at Texas where she excelled in painting, creating pottery and designing jewelry. Shortly after college she founded her own business, Jensen Graphic Design, and operated it for many years.
Yvonne knew that her time was her most valuable possession because it could never be replaced, but she gave it freely to her family, friends and her Homeowner Association. After retirement she worked tirelessly for her HOA, ultimately serving as its president for 16 years. Houston has no zoning, so Yvonne believed the most important achievements of her presidency were working with neighbors to renew the subdivision’s deed restrictions and then pass an amendment that made them perpetual.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Mary Jane Jensen, and her sister Karen Ferguson. She is survived by her sister, Bebe Cathcart, and her husband Patrick; and her brother, Trippi Jensen, and his wife Carole. She is also survived by her niece Nicole Watkins, and her husband Fran; her niece Carrie Reaves and her husband Reagan; her nephews Franklin and Clinton Jensen; her great nephew Ryan Watkins; her great niece Reese Watkins; and her four lifelong friends Margaret, John, Jan, and Nancy.
Yvonne was a great lady and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her!!
